Why are billionaires building doomsday bunkers?

Should we also prepare ourselves, if yes, how?

Have you heard about “Billionaires building doomsday bunkers”? It’s making people wonder if something big is coming. There’s a lot happening worldwide, but the question remains: Is doomsday really on the horizon? Big tech guys seem to think so, spending a ton on swanky hideouts.

Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook genius, is leading the charge, reportedly building a whopping $270 million underground fortress on Hawaii’s Kauai island. This secret project has people talking, sparking speculation about whether these billionaires are getting ready for some serious doomsday scenarios. Let’s take a closer look at Zuckerberg‘s secret hideaway and why he’s not the only one going to extremes.

Why are billionaires building doomsday bunkers?

The talk about 15 billionaires building doomsday bunkers has stirred conversations, but there’s no solid proof. In a revealing chat with Douglas Rushkoff, five wealthy individuals shared concerns about the future, emphasizing the need to retain security personnel during tough times.

While Peter Thiel is waiting for permission for his New Zealand bunker, Elon Musk’s plans remain uncertain, possibly involving Mars if given the chance. As these elites plan their underground escapes, the rest of us ponder the future, considering how we might navigate challenging times. In an increasingly unpredictable world, billionaires are ensuring they’re prepared for whatever comes our way.

Mark Zuckerberg is the first on the list

Mark Zuckerberg’s plan goes beyond a simple bunker; it’s a fancy compound, as Wired magazine’s Guthrie Scrimgeour details. Over nearly a decade, Zuckerberg has been buying up land on Kauai, where construction is underway for a sprawling 1,400-acre compound with mansions, treehouses, and tunnels. The main attraction of this $270 million project is a 5,000 sq. ft underground shelter with its own energy and food supplies, featuring what seems like a blast-resistant door.

Zuckerberg’s underground place isn’t your typical shelter; it’s a massive 57,000-square-foot space with its own power and food supplies, featuring a door designed to withstand significant explosions. Business Insider reports reveal plans for over a dozen buildings, boasting 30 bedrooms, 30 bathrooms, elevators, offices, meeting rooms, and a spacious kitchen.

But it’s not all serious – the bunker includes recreational elements like a gym, pools, sauna, hot tub, cold plunge, and even a tennis court. Adding a touch of fun, 11 treehouses connected by rope bridges create an underground paradise, ready in case things take a turn for the worse.

It’s a bit puzzling that someone who claims to care about global equality would invest in an apocalypse shelter that separates him from the outside world. One might wonder why Zuckerberg, with his passion for humanity, wouldn’t open his doors to fellow islanders or invest in something more community-focused, like a public park.

Zuckerberg is only one of the billionaires building doomsday bunkers

While Zuckerberg may be leading the pack, he’s not alone in having a secret getaway plan. Metro discloses that Peter Thiel, the PayPal magnate, is working on his own bunker-style refuge in New Zealand, possibly sharing it with Sam Altman from OpenAI. In a revealing meeting with Douglas Rushkoff, five other wealthy individuals hinted at their desire for secret safe spots. However, the claim that 15 billionaires are simultaneously constructing bunkers lacks evidence.

People love speculating about doomsday scenarios, ranging from diseases and climate crises to nuclear threats and extraterrestrial invasions. In a world that seems to be heading in a worrisome direction, billionaires building doomsday bunkers may not be linked to anything specific, but the general sentiment is clear: being prepared for the unexpected is better than being caught off guard.
