Big news from the Amazon Web Services (AWS) world! The big boss, Adam Selipsky, introduced a cool new thing called Amazon Q AI Assistant at the AWS re:Invent conference. It’s like Amazon’s answer to Microsoft’s Copilot, but maybe even better.

Amazon Q is like a super-smart computer buddy. It uses fancy AI to help you with your work. You can chat with it, get help with stuff, and even make it do things for you. Selipsky says it’s just as good as Microsoft’s assistant, and maybe even a bit more.

What is Amazon Q AI and how does it work?

You can talk to it in normal language like you’re talking to a friend. Amazon Q understands you and can access your company’s computer systems, data, and operations. And don’t worry about privacy—Selipsky says Amazon Q is like a trustworthy friend. It won’t use your info to train itself, so your secrets are safe.

Amazon Q is a game-changer for all kinds of workers. Developers and IT people are going to love it. It’s like having a helpful friend who knows everything about building and managing computer programs on AWS.

Getting Amazon Q is easy. You can use it through the AWS Management Console, your company’s docs, or even in places like Slack.

Amazon Q is trained on 17 years of AWS knowledge

Amazon Q AI isn’t just smart; it’s like a genius trained on 17 years of AWS knowledge. Right now, it’s hanging out with Amazon Connect, which is AWS’s service for people who talk to customers a lot. But soon, it will be buddies with Amazon Supply Chain (for tracking stuff) and Amazon QuickSight (for business smarts). Those are still in testing, though.

This tool can work with any cool models from Amazon Bedrock. That’s like a treasure chest of smart computer brains, including ones called Llama 2 and Claude 2. Amazon Q helps you figure out the best AWS services for your projects. Just connect to Bedrock, learn your stuff, and let Amazon Q make your work smoother.

Level up your AI game with AWS AI Ready courses

Amazon Q AI isn’t just for chatting; it’s hands-on. You can tell it what you need, like writing code or adding cool stuff to your apps. Amazon Q will make a plan, and you can team up with it using regular talk. Then, it does the hard work in your apps, and you can check everything to make sure it’s top-notch. This isn’t a dream; you can do it right now in the special computer place (IDE).

Amazon Q AI pricing

If you want Amazon Q to help out in Amazon Connect, it starts at $40 per helper per month. But guess what? You can try it out for free until March 1, 2024. Selipsky wants you to know that Amazon Q follows the rules you set for security, so no one can peek at stuff they’re not supposed to.

Selipsky showed all the details during the event

During the show-off time, Selipsky showed how Amazon Q answers business questions. It’s not just words; it shows you tables, charts, and bullet points. Amazon Q even gives you links to where it found the info. You can dig deeper or ask more questions, and it does all this super fast, thanks to the power of AWS.

With Amazon Q comes an extra bonus. AWS is adding guardrails to Bedrock. No, not the kind you find on roads. These guardrails help companies make sure their apps and smart computer brains follow the rules. It’s like having a babysitter for your computer stuff, making sure everything is safe and sound.

In a nutshell, Amazon Q is like your tech superhero, making AWS tasks easier and smarter. With its friendly design, privacy promise, and cool features, Amazon Q is here to make your work life better. So, get ready to see your workdays become smoother and more exciting with Amazon Q by your side.
