Alpine Data Labs have unvieled Alpine Chorus 5.0, an enterprise-class advanced analytics platform which aims to unify data access, management and monitoring on one platform.

One of the major advancements between Chorus 4.0 and Chorus 5.0 is that Alpine now offers data managements across all the major Hadoop distributions. Alpine’s CTO Dillon Woods told Dataconomy “We were talking to a lot of businesses who were sold on our technology, but we using Hadoop distributions that we didn’t offer full support for. Our supported data sources now include MapR, Cloudera, Hortonworks, Apache and Pivotal”.

As Chief Product Officer Steven Hillion emphasises in the press release, Alpine Chorus is not jusr about Hadoop. “We built Alpine Chorus from the start knowing that it would require enterprise-level support for both Hadoop and non-Hadoop systems,” he remarked. “The majority of enterprises we work with, use Hadoop as an augmentation of their data environment, rarely as a replacement of their existing data warehouses.”

Another major advancement in 5.0 is the integration and management of technologies such as R and Spark. These technologies are now available in Alpine’s incredibly intuitive drag-and-drop workflow. Yet as CMO Bruce Aziza discussed with Dataconomy, the integration of these two technologies is more than a sum of its parts- it’s a dedication by Alpine to commit themselves to the inclusion of a greater number of new technologies on their advanced analytics platform. They’re already in talks about integrating Python into the next release; they also mentioned Tachyon as a frontrunner for inclusion in future releases.

Alpine Chorus 5.0 also includes new data governance features, to provide greater visibility and accessiblity, as well as a more unified front-end aesthetic across the whole platform. With 5.0, Alpine Data Labs prove their commitment to providing enterprises advanced analytics at scale, all on one manageable platform.
