Splunk Inc. (NASDAQ: SPLK), the leading platform for real-time Operational Intelligence, today announced that it has been rated ‘Big Data Leader 2015’ in five of the benchmark categories in the Experton Group ‘Big Data Vendor Benchmark 2015’ report. The analyst firm, a fully integrated research, advisory and consulting house for medium and large enterprises, awarded Splunk® software top marks in the Big Data Security Analytics, Big Databases and Data Management, Big Data Aggregation Solutions, Big Data Analytics Software and Solutions and Visualization/Dashboards/Syndication categories.

“Reaching the Leader quadrant five times is a remarkable achievement,” said Holm Landrock, senior advisor, Experton Group. “The Experton Group Big Data Vendor Benchmark assesses not only the technology, but also the overall achievements of a company, specificically looking at the needs of German corporate users. Splunk can aggregate and analyse data from any source, across structured, unstructured and semi-structured data. As a result, the company has expanded its presence in Germany and seen real success among users.”

Organizations use Splunk software to improve service levels, reduce costs, mitigate security risks, enable compliance and create new product and service offerings. With Splunk, they break down traditional data silos and attain operational intelligence that benefits both IT and the business. Splunk Enterprise enables users to easily search, analyze and visualize large volumes of machine-generated data in real time. Customers can use Hunk: Splunk Analytics for Hadoop and NoSQL Data Stores to explore, analyze and visualize huge amounts of historical data at rest without the need for specialized skillsets, fixed schemas or complex programming. Free versions of Splunk Enterprise and Hunk are available on the Splunk website. Organizations can also extend the power of Splunk with over 400 apps designed to help customers get value from their data faster. This includes the Splunk App for Enterprise Security, which helps customers identify and address emerging security threats through the use of continuous monitoring, alerting and analytics. “Being named a Big Data Leader in five categories shows the wide range of use cases for Splunk software, and the real value Splunk customers are gaining by analyzing their machine-generated data,” said Olav Strand, regional director of central EMEA, Splunk. “Turning machine data into operational intelligence is a key focus for leading companies in the DACH region because they understand it is crucial to take advantage of data to drive innovation and efficiency. We are thrilled to be recognized by Experton Group for our work in the German market.”

Based on the Experton Group “Market Insight” methodology, the second annual ‘Big Data Vendor Benchmark’ report for the German market evaluates local and international technology providers in eleven different categories. According to Experton, “leaders” have a broad portfolio of highly attractive products and services as well as a strong competitive and market position.
