It appears that the data fabric is rising to eminence. Last week, Gridgain unveiled their signature data fabric; now, Continuent have announced their offering to the world, named Continuent Tungsten 3.0.

For businesses with increasingly complex architectures, such data fabrics- a complete set of integrated systems which hope to fulfill all business requirements- could prove to be a powerful and vital tool. Speaking about the opportunities Continuent Tungsten affords to enterprises, Continuent CEO Robert Hodges remarked: “Continuent Tungsten 3.0 begins to fulfill our goal to provide complete data management that satisfies the full range of business needs.”

“The new solution, which is the unification of our industry-proven Continuent Tungsten and Tungsten Replicator offerings, takes management of business-critical data to a new level with certified combinations of clustering and replication in a holistic solution that delivers not only robust transaction processing but also real-time integration to the sophisticated analytics on which modern business depends.”

“Enterprises are increasingly looking for data management offerings that enable them to configure and manage database services that span on-premises and cloud deployment, as well as enabling integration with other data platforms such as Hadoop™,” commented Matt Aslett, Research Director, Data Platforms and Analytics, 451 Research. “Continuent’s Tungsten offers a combination of clustering of MySQL™ databases and replication to and from emerging ‘big data’ platforms.”

Tungsten also offers replication from Tungsten clusters to Oracle, Amazon, Redshift and Vertica, to name but a few. As well as integration with other data platforms, Tungsten provides robust multi-master operation and support for rapid provisioning of clustering and replication in cloud and on-premise. With such an enviable set of features, Continuent Tungsten 3.0 could certainly to be a powerful asset for data management.
