Swansea University have added the brand new MSc in Health Data Science to their curriculum, the first of its kind in the UK. The Health Data Science masters is aimed at healthcare professionals, computer scientists with experience in healthcare and biomedical engineers.
According to the University of Swansea’s website, “Health Data Science is a multi-disciplinary speciality that involves the application of Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) to data generated by a variety of sources, including patient generated data, GP systems and Big Data in general. Health Data Science has the potential to help structure the business of health care more effectively around outcomes, and could transform the practice of medicine.”
The Masters programme aims to arm its students with all of the knowledge and skills necessary to become a Health Data Scientist. It will blend together theoretical concepts and practical engagement. Proposed modules include: Data Science & Scientific Computing in Healthcare, Health Data Manipulation, Health Data Visualisation to Linked Health Data Analysis.
The University of Swansea are now accepting applications for the September 2014 programme. It can be completed a 1-year course full time or over 3 years as a part-time course. Find out more here.
